Today was not quite as much fun as the
other days have been, but I’m still in South Africa, and my life is still
amazing so let’s keep some perspective here.
We started the day by taking a tour of the library at University of
Western Cape. Possibly the most exciting
part of this tour however was the free4all Wi-Fi access… which I’m not
necessarily proud of, but was really grateful to have. After the tour we trekked over to the
Education department where we were able to meet with the faculty members who helped
organize this teach abroad trip, and the dean of the Education college
here. It’s nice to begin developing a
partnership with the college of education here at UWC. Their campus is so lovely and they provided
us with such wonderful welcome gifts regarding teaching here in South Africa,
and showed us around the spaces their students often frequent.
After we left the campus we all got
lunch together and then walked to the mall to try to find an inexpensive
solution to our wireless issues here at the apartments. Unfortunately we were unable to find any
reasonably priced hotspots, so that was a no go. All we could find were very costly Wi-Fi hot
spots and a few Wi-Fi extenders.
With all of the frustration from the
Wi-Fi and just the day as a whole I began to get a bit of a headache so by
18:30 I was in bed for the night.
